What is Bandder?
Bandder is a site for musicians to distribute and share their music across their fan base on the web and through their social networks on Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter. Bandder also allows music fans to interact with their favorite bands and help other fans discover their music.

Does it cost me any cash to join?
Nope. Musicians and their fans join for free. The only time you are getting charged is if you have a band and you sell your tracks. We take a small fee for tracks sold so we can keep the site running for you.

How do I sign my band up?
First step you have to register. After that it’s pretty easy. Just sign into your account and click the settings link at the top. You will then see a huge orange button that says “Set Up Your Band”. Click that and fill in the blanks. You are ready to go. If you want to start selling your music click the “Sell Music” button and fill out that form also. Enjoy.

You said I can link this to my twitter/MySpace/Facebook account? How?
Yes, you are right, we did say that. Right now at this initial release we support Twitter, so all you have to do is log into your account and click the “Social Media” button. Put in your Twitter info and you are ready to roll. When you go to post tracks, events, or your thoughts there will now be a button to add that post to your Twitter page. If you want to just check the box and then post, your buddies on Twitter will now see your Bandder post and will be sent back to Bandder to buy your stuff or get more info. Facebook and Myspace is coming shortly, we can only work our developers so many hours without sleep, stay tuned.

How do I sell my tracks?
You have to be a legit musician and actually own the rights to your songs before you can sell them. But if you already do then all you have to do is set up your band first by clicking the “Set Up Your Band” button on the settings page. After that’s done click the “Sell Music” button and fill out that stuff too. And, yes, you do have to have a PayPal account, if you don’t have one sign up for one, it’s free, and it’s the only way we can pay you for your sales. Once you have all that stuff set up you can upload your tracks and albums in the music manager and also track them and your sales. And one last thing, they HAVE to be mp3’s, no .wav or mpeg4 nonsense allowed here.

How much do tracks cost?
Each track you buy is $0.99. That’s it, so go buy a bunch of them. We do add a small convenience charge to each order to cover our merchant account costs, this fee is just $0.40 per transaction, so if you buy 1 song, or 10,000 songs it’s just $0.40, so buy in bulk and save some loot.

Convenience charge! What are you Ticketmaster? WTF?
Yeah, sorry guys, we do have a small convenience charge we need to add to each order. It’s not huge like some other companies charge but we get killed by our merchant account and on a song that costs $0.99 we don’t make enough money to stay open because we give so much money back to the bands and musicians. You guys can picket PayPal and convince them to kill their merchant transactions fees and then we can eliminate ours.

How much does my band make by selling a track?
Your band makes most of the money by selling a track; we only take a 15% cut so you get $0.84 for each track you sell. Other sites out there rob you blind, we think you should make the cash because it’s your music; we just need enough to keep the site running so you can sell your stuff.

How do I get paid for my music?
We have to pay you guys too??? Just kidding, of course we are paying you when you sell your music. You have to first start by setting up a PayPal account if you don’t have one. The next step is to click the “Sell Music” button on the “Settings” page. Fill out all that stuff and make sure that the tracks you are selling are actually yours or we will hunt you down. When you sell a track you will not be getting paid instantly. Yeah, I know, it totally sucks, but we don’t have a choice. Your PayPal account will get your funds transferred into it from your sales on the first day of every new month. If you have any issues just use our feedback form and we will help you sort them out.

Some scumbag is stealing my band name and posting my tracks without my permission, what can I do besides kicking their ass?

Can I promote my shows?
Yup. Just sign your band up by clicking the “Set Up Your Band” button. When you go back to your homepage you will see that you can now add events into the message stream. Just pick the date, time and place and you are ready to roll. You can even post a link where to get tickets.

Is my profile customizable?
You don’t like our site colors? That’s fine; you can make your Bandder page look how you want it. Just click the settings link and then the “Design” button. It’s pretty self explanatory from there; just make sure you pay attention to a few things. First, no pics bigger than 700K in size. Second, it has to be a jpg, gif, or png, we won’t take anything else. Third, if you would be embarrassed to show the pic to your 90 year old Grandma then you probably don’t want it spread across the web, and frankly we don’t want to see it either, use some discretion.

How do I buy tracks?

See that little shopping cart next to each track and album? Yeah, click that, it’s pretty easy. Once you buy a track or album it can be downloaded off of your download page.

I got a question for you that I don’t see here. Can you help me out?
No problem, we can help you out. Shoot us an email to info@bandder.com and we will get back to you. Cut us some slack if it takes some time to get to you, there are a ton of you out there and only a few of us.
